Names of persons in inventories and catalogues

This file contains the names of persons occurring in the inventories of archives and catalogues of collections, kept by the Zeeuws Archief. For genealogical research only 5% of the total collection of the Zeeuws Archief is used. In the remaining 95% many names of ancestors are found. It is impossible to collect all those names from these documents. That is why we collected of the names of persons which can be found in the inventories of the archives and the catalogues of the collections. An inventory contains the description of the documents, put in a logical sequence. Consulting an inventory or a catalogue you can easily check the contents of an archive or a collection and you can see the number of the documents to apply for the original document, kept in the depot of the Zeeuws Archief.

Through the website www.archieven.nl you can find more then 800 inventories and catalogues of the Zeeuws Archief online. We can recommend that first you go through the website www.archieven.nl with the names that you have found in this group. Search through archive (“archiefdienst”) Zeeuws Archief). In this way you can find the description of the documents the persons name occur.
